it's saturday. not much is going on. i'm hungry. i'm gonna get some food, but right now, i must blog. good news and bad (really bad) news to follow:
good news time first:
i went to austin with my honors govt. 2302 class this week. we left very early wednesday morning and got back thursday evening. got to watch the house of reps and the senate conduct business and heard from a bunch of guest speakers (mostly reps and senators). it was all very interesting, and despite the fact that it was all just as messed up as i've heard the process down there to be, it actually gave me a little more faith in the state government than i had before the trip. on saturday night i got to hang out with katie, morgan, stephanie, and tamara at their dorm room over at ut austin (which was about 2 or 3 blocks from our hotel). it was quite fun and i got to catch up with them on all the news and happenings that have gone on since we had last talked.
all in all it was a pretty great time; suit-wearing notwithstanding.
after i got back to richardson thursday night i chilled with anna and chesley and the normal crew down here for the evening. it was quite fun. a humorous trip to wal-mart was involved and i'll probably post a photoblog picture dealing with it. the picture should be self explanitory.
now, bad news time:
the friday after i got back (a.k.a. yesterday) was the day that tickets to go see nine inch nails went on sale. they hit the market at 5 pm and at 5:00:01 michael and i were logged into the ticketmaster website and trying to get tickets. we didn't. after a bit more trying online we drove down to the local ticketmaster place just incase we'd have better luck there. nope. apparently all 2700 tickets available for trent's houston show sold out in 5 minutes. we just weren't lucky enough to get any when we first tried on the website...
this concert was most definately the biggest thing on my horizon and was definately the thing in my life i was most looking forward to anywhere in the near future. we had a whole group planning to go to houston to see trent and have what would easily be one of the best experences of our lives, but now it ain't happening. trent's music is so amazing, and the thought of seeing him was overwhelming... but now i don't have to worry about it anymore...
why can't the ticket purchasing system be somehow based on merit? at this point in my life i (and i know some other people in the group) wanted those tickets more than anything else... i wish that could have counted for something... i know we wanted to go more than some of the people that will be going, and i know that we have a much greater appreciation for trent and his music than some of the people who are going, and i know for damn sure that we're all around better people than the many, many scalpers that got tickets just to sell on ebay for a nearly 1000% return on their investement.
i guess it's just the way this shit goes... but it just dosen't seem fair...
ugh... i guess i'll just have to wait for with teeth to come out (nin's new album) and then listen to it with my eyes closed and pretend i'm there... yeah...
i'm a sad panda.
