on st. patricks day i came one step closer to completing all of my life goals; i saw vanilla ice live in concert. hells yeah.

tim, anna, collin and i went down to the curtain club in deep ellum at about 10:00 or so. there were three opening acts. nothing too exciting except for the first act: it was a white rapper, but that's not the cool part (obviously). there was this badass black guy that just stood behind him the entire time he was rapping and never said a word. pimp.

ice's performace was, of course, sweetness. just before the curtains were about to open for him to come on stage the entire crowd started chanting "ninja, ninja rap! ninja, ninja rap! go ninja go ninja go!" twas awesome. at the end of his first song (one of his new rap songs) he incorporated the "go ninja go" stuff and had the crowd sing along. also awesome. at one point in the performance he introduced his dj who apparently also graduated from r. l. turner, and then gave a shout out to turner. we screamed as loud as we could. it was fucking hardcore. he eventually got to 'ice ice baby' but in a much heavier, more intense style. everyone in the crowd new all the words and sang along at the top of their lungs. a bunch of girls got up on stage and danced to the song, including anna (mad props). twas awesome as well. after the song ended (at which point anna came down off of the stage) vanilla ice tried for about 20 minutes to get the girls on stage to flash the audience. it was damn funny because it was vanilla ice (which is inherently funny) rapping (and having the audience rap along with him) the phrase "show us some titties" over and over again. brilliance. he didn't really have any luck except for the good looking lesbian couple that had been dirty dancing and making out with each other up on the stage for quite a while. one flashed and the other licked. hot. other highlights of the evening include the 4 or 5 drunken fights that broke out in the crowd and the drug deal we got to see go down in the parking lot where we had parked. oh, and the many bums asking for money. they're always fun, especially when they sing or something for you.

...yeah... i saw vanilla ice live in concert. it makes me happy.

other than that, not much is going on. went bowling with stevo, callie and tim tonight. twas fun, even though i had no idea what i was doing. still managed to hold my own fairly well.

computer games have lost most of their fun (though i'm sure they'll be fun again soon, when i'm out of whatever funk i'm in at the moment). but... that leaves me very bored when i'm not actually hanging out with people. not fun.

school is school. that's about it. classes are ok. just same old, same old.

yeah, it guess that's all folks.

(trent reznor rocks my socks)
(had to get it in there somewhere, wouldn't wanna break the trend)

a continuation of the previous theme is to follow:

so i realized that there is a fatal flaw in the audioscrobbler system; it dosen't take into account what i listen to on my ipod. dunno how it would, but still, i do 1/3 to 1/2 of my music listening via my ipod.

but i'll go ahead and help you compensate for the lack of extra data:
it's safe to say that about 80% of what i listen to on my ipod is nine inch nails. so basically just add even more nin songs to the list. i win. as usual.

also, my friend michael from upstairs gave me an article from the oklahoma daily (the oklahoma university newspaper). it has an article in it titled "desperate for nin tickets." i figured i'd quote the first paragraph here because it's comical and kind of sums up the no ticket situation...

"of all the tragedies i have suffered over the years, the biggest blow came last friday afternoon at 5:05 pm: every nine inch nails tour date in the u.s. sold out within minutes of their first availability. let me put it this way: i would miss the birth of my first born child to see nine inch nails. if anybody is in desperate need of a kidney and has two extra tickets for the houston show give me a call." - joshua michael torres

yeah, i'd say that pretty much hits the nail right on the head. (pun only slightly intended)

tommorow night i should be going to see vanilla ice at the curtain club. owned. we're gonna try to wear our letter jackets. double owned.

a musical (and a mundane task) post.

i cleaned up the links on the right side of the page; it was long overdue. if your blog/whatever isn't in the list and you wish it to be (my blog gets lots of traffic and will lead to yours... or so i like to think) just let me know. i may add more on my own as well, but i'm too lazy at the moment.

the fact that i didn't get tickets to go see nine inch nails hits me right in the gut about once a day. it makes me sad. unless you are a hardcore nin fan like me and a few of my friends you just wouldn't understand... but on that note i did get to hear the radio release of 'the hand that feeds', a single from 'with teeth', trent's new album. it's like nine inch nails alternative rock, but i like it. fuck the critics, can't an artist change and evolve if he wants to?

continuing the theme, i thought i'd fill out this survey that ross stole from ann and that i stole from ross:

make a soundtrack for your life, matching songs with the following:

-opening song: "intro" - kmfdm
-waking up: "fuck authority" - pennywise
-first date: "physical" - nine inch nails
-first kiss: "big man with a gun" - nine inch nails (haha)
-falling in love: "perfect drug" - nine inch nails
-seeing an old love: "sin" - nine inch nails
-heartbreak: "hurt" - nine inch nails
-driving fast: "wish" - nine inch nails
-getting ready to go out: "boyz in da hood" - dynamite hack
-partying with friends: "damn it feels good to be a gangsta" - geto boys
-dancing at a club: "head like a hole (slate)" - nine inch nails (kickin' bass)
-flirting: "closer to god" - nine inch nails
-feeling sexy: "closer" - nine inch nails
-walking alone in the rain: "leaving hope" - nine inch nails
-missing someone: "something i can never have" - nine inch nails
-playing in the ocean: "the great below" - nine inch nails
-summer vacation: "barefoot in the park" - neon genesis evangelion
-fighting with someone: "march of the fuckheads" - nine inch nails
-acting goofy with friends: "asshole" - denis leary
-thinking back: "and all that could have been" - nine inch nails
-feeling depressed: "komm susser tod" - neon genesis evangelion (come sweet death in german)
-christmas time: "christmas time in hell" - south park
-falling asleep: "adrift and at peace" - nine inch nails
-closing song: "into the void" - nine inch nails

there, all done... and you have no idea how tempting it was to make the entire list nin, but i decided against it... didn't want to seem to musically one dimensional... but hell, it practically is anyway (16/21 songs (owned)).

also, on the topic of music, i started one of those audioscrobbler things... now you'll be able to see what i listen to and how much i listen to it. yay. i know you'll love checking it out; i find it interesting and i'm me!

the link is also gonna be left on the list of links on the right and maybe in my profile. maybe.

other than all of that, not much is going on.
well, except for the fact that my parents are moving, but i'll blog on that when the details are worked out and i acutally know what is going on.
also:
spring break is over. :(
saw get shorty; good stuff.
been hanging with people. it's good.
ihop is da shizznit (or something).
and the lack of nin tickets makes me sad...

the end. of everything ever. (probably not)

it's saturday. not much is going on. i'm hungry. i'm gonna get some food, but right now, i must blog. good news and bad (really bad) news to follow:

good news time first:
i went to austin with my honors govt. 2302 class this week. we left very early wednesday morning and got back thursday evening. got to watch the house of reps and the senate conduct business and heard from a bunch of guest speakers (mostly reps and senators). it was all very interesting, and despite the fact that it was all just as messed up as i've heard the process down there to be, it actually gave me a little more faith in the state government than i had before the trip. on saturday night i got to hang out with katie, morgan, stephanie, and tamara at their dorm room over at ut austin (which was about 2 or 3 blocks from our hotel). it was quite fun and i got to catch up with them on all the news and happenings that have gone on since we had last talked.
all in all it was a pretty great time; suit-wearing notwithstanding.
after i got back to richardson thursday night i chilled with anna and chesley and the normal crew down here for the evening. it was quite fun. a humorous trip to wal-mart was involved and i'll probably post a photoblog picture dealing with it. the picture should be self explanitory.

now, bad news time:
the friday after i got back (a.k.a. yesterday) was the day that tickets to go see nine inch nails went on sale. they hit the market at 5 pm and at 5:00:01 michael and i were logged into the ticketmaster website and trying to get tickets. we didn't. after a bit more trying online we drove down to the local ticketmaster place just incase we'd have better luck there. nope. apparently all 2700 tickets available for trent's houston show sold out in 5 minutes. we just weren't lucky enough to get any when we first tried on the website...
this concert was most definately the biggest thing on my horizon and was definately the thing in my life i was most looking forward to anywhere in the near future. we had a whole group planning to go to houston to see trent and have what would easily be one of the best experences of our lives, but now it ain't happening. trent's music is so amazing, and the thought of seeing him was overwhelming... but now i don't have to worry about it anymore...

why can't the ticket purchasing system be somehow based on merit? at this point in my life i (and i know some other people in the group) wanted those tickets more than anything else... i wish that could have counted for something... i know we wanted to go more than some of the people that will be going, and i know that we have a much greater appreciation for trent and his music than some of the people who are going, and i know for damn sure that we're all around better people than the many, many scalpers that got tickets just to sell on ebay for a nearly 1000% return on their investement.
i guess it's just the way this shit goes... but it just dosen't seem fair...

ugh... i guess i'll just have to wait for with teeth to come out (nin's new album) and then listen to it with my eyes closed and pretend i'm there... yeah...

i'm a sad panda.
